
Keith Byars enjoyed a successful 13-year career in the NFL, playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and New York Jets. Ohio State fans will never forget his career with the Buckeyes, where his 50 touchdowns scored is still the second most in school history. Byars was selected to the NFL Pro Bowl team in 1993 and played in Super Bowl XXXI in 1996 with the New England Patriots. Keith Byars was born October 14, 1963 in Dayton, Ohio. He played college football at Ohio State University, where he became the second-leading rusher in Buckeye history. Keith gained 3,200 yards on 619 carries and scored a total of 50 touchdowns, led nation in rushing (1,764 yards), scoring (24 TDs) and all-purpose yards (2,441 yards).
As a professional, Keith played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and the New York Jets. Byars was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1993.
A superb rusher, blocker, and pass receiver, Byars was a vital contributor for every team he played on. In his 13 seasons as a pro, Keith rushed for 3,109 yards, caught 610 passes for 5,661 yards, returned 5 kickoffs for 94 yards, and completed 6 of 13 passes for 119 yards and 6 touchdowns, with 1 interception. He also scored 54 touchdowns (23 rushing and 31 receiving)
Off the field, Keith is married to Margaret, a gospel singer who has sung the national anthem before numerous NFL football games. He was been honored as Humanitarian of the Year by Philadelphia Sports Writers Association and earned a 1991 community service award from the Big Brothers and Sisters of Philadelphia . Byars also hosts a free football camp in hometown Dayton , Ohio.
